Magic and the night river
When you see someone trying to do something and someone else putting them down you feel sorry for the person because he or she never got a chance to try. Seeing this you should be more patient with other people and let them try what they what to try. In the Magic and the nigh river, by Eve Bunting, Yoshi goes with his grandfather into a journey in catch fish so he doesn’t loss his boat.
As soon as people say you’re too old or too young for something you feel bad because you know you have it in you but they would give you a chance. This is how the grandfather felt after Kano said he was too old and wanted to rent his boat to a better fisher man. If I wanted to go on a roller coaster and I said I was to young I would be mad because I knew I could do It. This teaches you that you can’t judge someone on how big, little, young, or old they are.
Once a person lets you do things for them, you have to show them that you really can do it. Kano let grandfather go and use his boat to fish he was giving him one last chance to show him that he can fish .Out at sea Yoshi and grandfather almost had one basket filled. Grandfather and yoshi where so happy with the big fish they can sell them and not be hungry. Because they have the fish they can keep the boat and still be able to have food to eat.
When someone asked you to try something that you have you should lets them and be patient with them and not be selfish with your things. The next time you see someone being mistreated and not trying something remember to be patient with them.

A Literary Discussion of “The Lie”
In an average conversation 60 percent of people lie at least once during a 10 minute conversation and tell an average of two to three lies. We all lie, all the time. It causes problems. So why do we do it? “The Lie” by Kurt Vonnegut is a story that can make you learn a lot. You learn not to lie and that you have to know the people that are in your family. Even if it is hard not to lie you have to learn to tell the truth. People should never lie; lying can only get you in to more trouble and get you to only tell more lies.
While lying may be very tempting you have to do the right thing and tell the truth. Sometimes the people around you can force you to lie and make you feel peer pressure. Eli had peer pressure to lie because his parents were pressuring him so much to make it in to school like other wealthy kids his age. He didn’t want to disappoint them, so he lied. So you should not give into pressure. Parents should not pressure their kid that hard so they think they have to lie.
When your child doesn’t earn something that you really wanted for him you shouldn’t try to bribe the people that didn’t give him that thing. That makes your kid feel bad and not good enough. In the story Mr. Remenzel tries to bribe the school to let his son in even though it was his son’s fault that he didn’t get in. After his son wasn’t really happy that his dad did that and he got bad at him. His father agrees that what he did was wrong and he shouldn’t have done that. So you shouldn’t try and bride your school, classmates, or anyone for what you didn’t earn.
I think the story is really realistic. Out of the 36 topics, the average teen was lying to his/her parents about twelve of them. It is realistic that Eli lied in his parents about not getting in because he felt bad and embarrassed that he didn’t get into the school. His parents should on been there for him when he was down. This is also Elis fault because he is the one that lied, but if he didn’t lie his parent could on understood and helped him. So his parents should have been there for Eli. This story is really realistic.
It is very tempting to lie but you have to stay away from lying and try to tell the truth. Telling the truth can get you lots of places and send you down the right path. The story “The Lie” is a realistic story and tells people not lie and not to put so much pressure on your kid or someone else so they think they have to lie.
