Patriotism
Families waiting at airports all around the country, waiting for their loved ones to come home, to see their faces that they have not seen in a very long time. This moment is happy and emotional. Patriots are fighting all over the world to help this country just because they love our country. They get nothing; they do this out of the goodness of their hearts. People should respect the patriots because if you don’t they might be gone! Even though it is an emotional moment seeing your husband, wife, or friend coming home; it is even more emotional not seeing your loved one come home. Patriotism does still matter today because we need more leaders in this country. Patriots are one of the biggest leaders in the United States because they have done so much in all the national disasters, such as, 9/11 and Pearl Harbor. One example of such patriot is Pat Tillman. He went to Arizona State University as a linebacker. Then he was drafted in to the NFL (National Football League) in 1998 by the Arizona Cardinals in the 226 pick. In May of 2002, instead of going on to his football career, went into the United States Army Rangers. He was killed on April 22, 2004, by friendly fire. Later he was awarded the Purple Heart and the Silver Star. Even if you can’t see your loved ones anymore you should be able to keep their life alive on earth with memorials. After Pat Tillman’s death, his family created a foundation called the Pat Tillman Foundation. They are also making a bridge in Pat Tillman’s name. On the 19th of September the whole Arizona Cardinals team wore a memorial on their helmets in honor of Pat Tillman. That is just a couple of ways to show your love for that person that passed away. Even though, the person is out of our life, it doesn’t mean that they are out of our lives forever. They are always alive in our hearts. If you don’t respect all the patriots that have helped our country, they won’t respect you and they might be gone. Patriots are very brave and smart. They are doing this out of the goodness of their hearts. The least we can do is let them know we care about them.
