The Outsiders’ Character: Ponyboy
There are people all around the world that are getting killed by gangs all over America. The police and the government should try to stop the killing of the gangs because people are dying. Ponyboy the main character of the book, The Outsiders, is in a gang called the Greasers and their gang rival is the Socs.
Ponyboy is the person that I am choosing because he is the main character, is the most important and the most interesting one out of all the Greasers. I like that Ponyboy is one of the Greasers that stays in school and tries to get an education. Even though his is living with all the Greasers and with all of the distractions he still stays in school. I identify with him because he is nice and brave and not like the other Greasers.
Ponyboy is just a fourteen year old boy and is a part of the Greaser’s gang. Ponyboy and Darrel brother, don’t really get along that much in the novel. In a matter of time they become good friends. Ponyboy is really a brave teenager. While a church is burning down, he and Johnny run into the building and save the children. Also at the movies Dally is bothering these girls and Johnny and Ponyboy are nice and say, “Don’t bother them” and then the girls like them for getting Dally away from them. A quote that describes Ponyboy is “Nature's first green is gold.”
Ponyboy changes a lot in the story to just a Greaser to a hero of all those children. I think he really turns into a man during the fight and the death of Johnny. During the fight he stands up for what he believes in and fights for himself and beats the Socs. When Johnny dies, Ponyboy sees the hard part of being a man and fighting through the rough times. Ponyboy also takes charge and he did, Ponyboy said to TwoBite, “I have and if you had the sense of a billy goat, you'd clean your house up 'stead of bummin' 'round ours.” This change of the character is very important because he became stronger as a person and an adult.
Ponyboy at the end of the novel learned how hard being a man can be and how difficult it is to be in the Greaser family. Ponyboy was getting along with his friends better since the hard times are over with the Socs. I think that there were not as much problems happening with the greasers after the fight. I think the change in Ponyboy is for better. I think it makes the Greasers better having someone nice in their gang.
I think In the future Ponyboy is going to try to work very hard in school and try to make it to that next level in collage. I think that his friends are going to try to get him to that next level. I think he is going to be the greaser that makes it to collage and makes his life successful.

High Schools or NBA superstars
Forty Two athletes have entered the NBA draft while in high school. Out of all of them none of them has been entered to the hall of fame. Only eight people have played in at least one NBA all-star game and seven out of the eight made it to the All-NBA team. That means that 34 players that entered the NBA draft wasn’t successful. I think that players wanting to enter the NBA draft should have at least one year of college under their belt because even though they are college players or high school player and have great talents they still have to be smart.
I think that you should not be able to enter the NBA draft at high school because they are still growing and they have much more to learn. When young adult come out of high school and play NBA basketball they will be very uneducated because they have not completed school and there brain are still growing. There are some times when people there are very smart young adult with great talent. If his grades are good enough they should still not be able to enter the NBA draft because they are not educated.
When high school people enter the NBA draft they will have to face a lot of peer pressure and that is not good for a young adult. There is a story about this big star coming in to the NBA. One night he went out with his friends. They had drugs at the party he went to. He took one and died, he was allergic to the drug. So if kids that are young and they enter the draft they have to deal with all that pressure and that is not easy.
34 people that entered the NBA draft were not successful. Young adults that enter the NBA draft have to deal with pressure and learning a lot on the way. People that enter the NBA draft in high school should not be allowed because there is too much for that young adult.
